Chelsea Bow To Middlesbrough In Carabao Cup Semi-final First Leg » Naijaloaded

2 mins read

Middlesbrough secured a surprising 1-0 victory against Chelsea in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, putting Chelsea in a challenging position for the return leg at Stamford Bridge on January 23.

Hayden Hackney scored the lone goal for Middlesbrough in the 37th minute, taking advantage of a defensive mistake by Chelsea.

Despite an early scare for Middlesbrough when a potential foul wasn’t penalized by VAR, they managed to hold off Chelsea’s attacks, including missed opportunities by Cole Palmer before halftime.

Chelsea will now aim for a strong performance in the second leg to overturn the deficit and secure a spot in the Carabao Cup final.
