Rajat Patidar is an Indian cricketer who plays first class cricket for domestic home state team Madhya Pradesh. Rajat bats with right hand and bowls off break with right hand. He is known for his batting. He made his IPL debut on 9 April 2021, playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.

Rajat Patidar was born on 1 June 1993 in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh. His family consists of one brother, one sister and parents. He completed his schooling from a private school of Indore. He has done his graduation from Guru Vashistha College.

Rajat was fond of bowling since childhood but he never got a chance to bowl in any match. He bats very well. He had hit many centuries and fours and sixes while playing in the team of Madhya Pradesh.

Career

Rajat played 43 matches in his List-A, in which he scored 1,397 runs with an average rate of 34.07, in which he scored 162 fours, 26 sixes, 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries. He made his first-class debut on 30 October 2015 in the Ranji Trophy, in which he scored 2,588 runs in 39 matches with an average rate of 40.43, 14 half-centuries, 7 centuries, 362 fours and 7 sixes. He played his T20 match on 8 January 2018, he scored 861 runs in 31 matches.

IPL career

Rajat was acquired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the IPL auction in February 2021. However, after playing four matches and scoring only 71 runs, he was released prior to the 2022 season.

In the 2022 IPL Player Auction, Rajat later found himself signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore midway through the season as a replacement for the injured Luvnith Sisodia, securing a deal worth INR 20 Lakhs.

On May 25, 2022, during the Eliminator match of the 2022 Indian Premier League against Lucknow Super Giants, Patidar delivered a stellar performance, scoring an unbeaten 112 runs off 54 balls. This innings marked a historic moment for Rajat, as he became the first uncapped player to achieve a century in the IPL playoffs.

Additionally, his century in 49 balls matched the record set by Wridhiman Saha in the 2014 IPL Finals. Concluding the 2022 season with an impressive total of 333 runs in just 8 matches at an average of 55.50, including a century and 2 half-centuries, Rajat was retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2023 Indian Premier League.

International Career

Rajat was named in the One-Day International (ODI) squad for the series against South Africa in October 2022. In February 2023, he was named in the ODI squad against New Zealand as an injury replacement for Shreyas Iyer. However, he did not make it into the playing eleven on either occasion.

He made his ODI debut on 21 December 2023 against South Africa, scoring 22 runs off 16 balls. In January 2024, Rajat was named as a replacement for Virat Kohli in India’s squad for the first two matches of the ODI series against England. He made his Test debut on 2nd February 2024 in the second match of the Test series.
